Holding Up the Sky, Totem

Standing over six and a half feet tall this sculpture seems to hold up the sky, thus the name.

I’ve enjoyed creating this work while in isolation during the Covid-19 pandemic. This was in response to a challenge by our local chapter of the Women’s Caucus for Art. We will be sharing our work created in this time period and I look forward to seeing all of the other works by fellow members. We will be creating a book of the work created and I will update this page to a Blink link so if you are interested in purchasing the book you can.

Holding Up the Sky is in reference to, Atlas a greek god in particular tasked with holding the celestial sphere up for all eternity. See the iridescent glass casting delightful rays of color when the sun kisses the mosaics & the clay final adding a bit of whimsey. Weather tested for long-life in Colorado’s freeze-thaw cycle.

All the best, keep well and create your life day by day, Annette
