Annette Coleman

Artist BiographyBorn in Denver and raised in Littleton Annette still lives, works and produces art in Colorado.

Affiliations with The Colorado Women’s Caucus for Art and Core New Art Space, a Denver Artists’ Coop has helped build and shape Annette’s fine art career. While working full time as an advertising specialist Annette has developed a strong style and unique imagery in her fine art.

Annette is virtually fearless and incredibly resourceful when it comes to new creative challenges. She’s been known to work around the clock to master new software, raid her closet for just the right item for a photo shoot, or take the lead finding new and exciting venues for showing her work. Annette is Creative Communications’ founder and creative director overseeing art direction and design. After attending Colorado State University and the Colorado Institute of Art, she embarked on a design career that has included positions at the Denver Center for Performing Arts, the Colorado Historical Society, and a number of Colorado’s leading advertising agencies. She formed her communications company in 1993.

With over 130 individual and group exhibits to her credit Annette knows how to organize and put on art shows.

I love creating timeless mosaics and glass-on-glass installations using tiles or stained glass that are shaped, fired, and carved. Public installations with glass/clay can take shape as murals, sculptural installations, or functional seating areas. I make sure that the materials used last a lifetime with only a wash of water-based sealant yearly to protect the grout from freeze thaw cycles. Think Pompeii abstracted, with the vivid colors of today, durable, timeless, and joyful. I also I’m excited about my kinetic hanging or free standing sculptural installations that move with the wind or ambient air currents of people moving about the building or using lighted elements that add to the nighttime palette.

I embrace commissioned work, combining different views and engaging communities. In addition to working as a public artist I have a background in working as a commercial exhibit designer, theatrical set designer, advertising pro and scenic artist. I have designed and produced public art on schedule to exacting standards. I work well with community members and understand budgets, blueprints and most importantly listen. Let’s have fun working together to create the best public artwork for your community.
