Bats, Roos & slithering Lizards
This is a commissioned work for Lakewood’s sister city park: Sutherland Shire Park. Sutherland Shire is located outside Sidney Australia and the animals of that country were selected for the imagery of these bollards protecting the play area from bikes and the like coming into the soft pavement.
The animals were created in clay, glazed and fired for the weather in Colorado. They are tactile and children can touch the animals when visiting. Creating work in the round is a challenge, each side needs to have an image that works with the other key images in that view.
