Aurora Borealis, A Legacy of Dreams

We just finished the installation of my stained glass windows for The Center for Reflection on the campus of Colorado Mesa University. There are 22 panels, the top two panels have signatures from the donors and visionaries that conceived of this building as part of the campus. There are 33 different colors and styles of glass in the windows with over 2,500 pieces of hand cut glass.

Many of the pieces of glass have iridescent surface qualities and are very different in appearance at night. There is a bewitching factor as the light outside fades and the glass becomes more somber in the darker hues. The light will always be part of this installation changing it to appear different each day and night. The black iridescent glass swoops come down from the top, bottom and sides to add movement and echo traditional supports found in stained glass.
