Tree of Life Installation at Boulder Public Library

Tree of Life Exhibit
Jan 16-April 3, Boulder Public Library, Canyon Gallery

Please join us at the artist reception:
January 22, 5-7pm

Trees have played an important role in many of the world’s mythologies and religions, and have been given deep and sacred meanings through out the ages. Human beings, observing the growth and death of trees, the elasticity of their branches, the annual decay and revival of their foliage, see them as powerful symbols of growth, decay and resurrection.

For this exhibition, artists working in various media install canopies from the ceiling of the gallery creating an indoor forest.

I’m joined by some of Boulders noted artists:

Cha Cha (curator with Greg Ravenwood), Gretchen Arharya, Susan Albers, Martine Amade, Sarah Amorese, James Balog, Elizabeth Black, joy Boston, Chris Brown, Pat Chapman, Amy Guion Clay, Catherine Cleary, Annette Coleman, Carolyn Crawford, Erinn Diekman, Karen Dombroski-Sobel, Caroline Douglas, Buff Elting, Willi Eggerman, David Foley, Garol Garnand, Susan Garson, Robin Grabowski, Emma Hardy, John King, Sally King, Kevan Krasnoff, Calista Morrill, Pamela Olson, Tom Pakele, Astrid Paustian, George Peters, Frank Sampson, Mary Lynn Schumacher, Anne Shutan, Arabella Tattershall, Melanie Walker, Carol Watkins, John Waugh, Jane Yamada and the Boulder High art students of Virginia Schick and Kate Villareal.

Final look at the tree installation from on high. Greg Ravenwood snapped this shot as he was looking at lighting possibilities.

My mosaic tiles come from the life’s work of noted Boulder tile maker:
Jeff Gaines, Dec 14, 1953-Nov 26, 2015, special thanks to Jeff and his family for their generosity.
